MINUTES EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING December 12, 2013 The meeting was called to order by President Terence Endersen at 6:00 pm. The other members of the Executive Board present were: Max Alavi, Julie Dean, Secretary Jeff Miller and Treasurer Robert O'Connor. Vice President Frank Elizondo and Executive Board members Sanne Berrig and Marvin Jones were absent. Twenty-four additional BSRA members and visitors were present. The agenda for this meeting was approved. The minutes of the October and November meetings were approved. Bay Shore Librarian Debi Gurley-Vilander announced classes for "e-book" readers in February. Paul LeBaron reported details of some of the crime incidents in the Shore in
November, including several assaults and robberies. Three of the assaults
were on Terry Braunstein, a local artist, spoke about her design work for the city twelve years ago, which resulted in a comprehensive master plan for beach development. She expressed concern that the city is not utilizing the plan, and is hoping to delay construction of the new pedestrian path on the beach until the overall plan is reconsidered. She asked for support from the audience. Secretary Miller explained that BSRA previously had endorsed the city's plan for a new path, provided it is placed on the inland side of the existing path, and that the city has submitted such a plan to the Coastal Commission. A motion was approved to request the city prepare and implement a master plan for beach development. BSBA Executive Director DeDe
Rossi announced there will be free parking (two hour limit) at the meters on
December 14, 15, 21, and 22. She said BSBA is planning to host a forum for
Third District candidates. The restaurant Roe is operating a food truck on Julie Maleki, Administrative Analyst from the Third District, announced planned sidewalk repairs in January and the upcoming opening of the temporary replacement for the Belmont Pool. DeDe Rossi announced the continuation of the employee bus rider program by the Parking Commission. President Endersen noted several current issues: a
section of sidewalks blocked by construction activity, possible removal of
billboards on Secretary Miller announced his intention to send reminder notices in January to members who have not yet paid their dues for the year. Treasurer O'Connor reported the bank account balance is $1,762. No members of the "Membership Boundary Committee" were present at the meeting to report on the Committee's activities.
